I’m fairly mean to my adopted home­town of Portland. At least some of the time.

So tonight, to spread some good will, I will list the TOP PORTLAND (and/or Oregon) BLOGS…accord­ing to me. I didn’t go search­ing far and wide, so please leave any sug­gested sites in the comments.

• ICED BORSCHT & OTHER DELIGHTS. I’d be remiss if I didn’t include myself. Who else rep­re­sents East County with such flair? I’m the Duke of 82^nd Avenue, the Sultan of Foster Road. The Darling of Hazelwood, THE MONARCH OF THE GLEN.

• LOST OREGON. This blog is incred­i­ble.  It cer­tainly needs no PR from me. It’s an online museum for our state’s past, a stroll down mem­ory lane in a way that’s never too kitschy or cute, as “nos­tal­gia” sites often are. A valu­able resource.

• LIQUIDITY PREFERENCE. The per­sonal Weblog of Jacob Grier, one of the best polit­i­cal minds in town. Some day I will go bother him at his bar­tend­ing gig and inquire about his time with the Cato Institute.

• NANCY ROMMELMANN. Nancy’s a new dis­cov­ery for me, and I have quickly taken a lik­ing to her stuff. She’s got depth, she’s got Reason, she’s got Mom Power.

• MUTATE! I can never really tell what goes on here, but I’m usu­ally intrigued despite (or because) of the con­fu­sion. That’s how I roll mutate.

• OREGON NATURAL HISTORY COALITION. I’m a nat­ural his­tory nut. You know what sucks, though? There’s no nat­ural his­tory museum in our comely city. That’s where the Oregon Natural History Coalition plays a key role. These nice peo­ple are try­ing their damnedest to get such a museum built. Help them!

• OREGON MEDIA CENTRAL. I’m a vocal critic of local media, and I dis­like Portland’s most promi­nent news­pa­pers. But I’ve exhausted that con­tempt at my old site and I have no desire to revisit the venom now. Still, I enjoy keep­ing abreast of media gos­sip, and Oregon Media Central is the place to go in that regard.
